What the Hiroshima walking tour covers

The tour lasts 5 hours and stays in the centre of the city, on foot the whole way: Peace Memorial Park, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum inside it, the cenotaph, the Children's Peace Monument, the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Orizuru Tower observation deck, where lunch is eaten. A certified guide leads the group and explains how the city was rebuilt after 1945. Admission to the museum and to Orizuru Tower is included, along with lunch and the photos the guide takes during the walk. It starts from 13,600 yen and is rated 5.0 ★ (1,052 reviews).

Distances are short and the ground is flat. Peace Memorial Park is a designed landscape of approximately 122,100 square metres, completed on 1 April 1954 to a design by three architects including Kenzo Tange, chosen first out of 145 competition entries, and the monuments on the route all sit inside it. Orizuru Tower stands at 1-2-1 Ootemachi, about one minute on foot from the Genbaku Dome-mae tram stop, so you finish the day beside a tram line and within walking distance of Hondori. The Aogiri tree is on the route as well.

The listed stops add up to about 130 minutes, so roughly half of the 5 hours goes on walking between them and on lunch with the guide. Miyajima is not part of this tour: there is no ferry crossing and no Itsukushima Shrine, which is what keeps the day to half a day. If you want the island in the same arrangement, the full-day bus tours from Hiroshima Station are the ones to compare instead.
