Staff collect you in the Hotel Granvia Osaka lobby, walk you to the Shin-Osaka platform and hand you over to a licensed guide who is waiting when the train pulls into Hiroshima.
Updated 4 November 2026
The whole day is built around the Shinkansen. Staff meet you on the first floor of Hotel Granvia Osaka, by the lift hall, take you to Shin-Osaka Station by public transport and put you on a reserved seat to Hiroshima, Ordinary Class or Green Car depending on the option you pick. The train itself is unguided. On arrival the local guide is on the platform and walks the group to the bus boarding point.
From that point a national government licensed English guide interpreter stays with you: the ferry across to Miyajima, 60 minutes at Itsukushima Shrine, another 60 minutes on the island for lunch and the shopping street, then back on the mainland for 20 minutes in Peace Memorial Park, 20 minutes at the Atomic Bomb Dome and a full hour inside the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. The Miyajima visitor tax and the other admissions and transport in Hiroshima are included in the price; lunch is not, which is why the island stop is an hour long.
Total length is 13 hours 10 minutes, from 59,900 yen, rated 4.5 ★ (144 reviews). That looks heavy next to the eight-hour tours that start in Hiroshima, and the difference is almost entirely rail time: a Nozomi covers Shin-Osaka to Hiroshima in about 1 hour 25 minutes each way, plus the transfers at either end. The stop times themselves are tight by design. The prefectural tourism board's own one-day model course allots 30 minutes at the Dome, 60 at the museum and 60 at Itsukushima Shrine, so this itinerary is working to the same clock.
Eat on Miyajima rather than holding out for the city. Oysters, layered Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and anago-meshi, grilled conger eel over rice, are all sold within a few minutes of the ferry pier, and once the bus reaches Peace Memorial Park the schedule gives you 20 minutes at a time.
One escorted day from Hotel Granvia Osaka: Shinkansen tickets, the Miyajima ferry and visitor tax, Itsukushima Shrine, Peace Memorial Park and the museum, with a licensed English guide interpreter in Hiroshima. Lunch is not included.

Three other full days start from Osaka, and they differ mainly in how much hand-holding you get. The escorted day on this page is the one where someone walks you from the hotel lobby to the platform; the 11.5 hour alternative, from JPY 15046, leaves you to travel independently and the bilingual English and Spanish guide meets you outside Hiroshima Station at the Shinkansenguchi Hiroba bus berth between stops 8 and 9. The 8 to 12 hour bus tour, from 17,000 yen, also lets you start in Hiroshima or Kyoto instead, with the round-trip Shinkansen attached only to the Osaka and Kyoto option plans.
